"Let's See How We Can Make This Happen: During A Pandemic". This workshop will explore two projects created in response to COVID-19 . The Respiratory Therapist Healthcare Project involved California State Departments, a High Road Training Partner, a local Hospital, an AJCC and the Oakland Workforce Development Board. We will discuss what worked and what did not. We will also explore a Summer Youth Employment Project that will produce Personal Protective Equipment.

Tamara Walker

Tamara Walker is a Program Analyst for the City of Oakland's Economic and Workforce Development. She currently serves as the business engagement and services analyst for the Oakland Workforce Development Board OWDB). Her primary responsibility is the development of services to businesses that have a clear linkages between workforce development activities and employers’ needs. She has been instrumental in facilitating several workforce initiatives including the Dental Assistant programs, the City of Oakland's Health & Human Services Early Childhood Education pre-apprenticeship, and the culinary pre-apprenticeship with Alternative Education, community partners, community college and industry employer partners. She also created the Oakland Workforce Collaborative, a partnership between local workforce development organizations and employers. Ms. Walker is a veteran grant writer with more than 20 years of experience and has successfully secured grants at local, state, federal, and foundation institutions totaling over $20M.
